«We are capable of beating anyone»!
Just a few days left before the start of World Championships of Shanghai and all the teams and the athletes fix the last things in order to be perfect to the games.
The men National team of Australia is already at Singapore and they will take part in the final pre World Championships tournament including five other nations.
The Aquaticsnews.com had a contact with the coach of Australia John Fox and he told us about the preparation of his team and their goals to the World Championships.
Furthermore, the Australian experienced coach shared his opinion for the Greek National team and the new effort of Dragan Andric, whereas he revealed us the last words, which he will tell to his players before the premiere of World Championships.
The interview of John Fox is as follows:
Just a few days before the premiere of World Championships, is the Australian team ready for the games?
Yes, we have been training and preparing in Perth for the past week. It has been of great benefit to have the entire team together for an extended period of time and finally train together in a manner that the European teams are accustomed to.
The next days you will take part in the final training tournament of Singapore against other countries, which will also take part in World Championships. How do you feel, are you satisfied from the preparation of your team?
Yes, we have now arrived in Singapore. The things we have practiced in the past few weeks can now be used in game situations to evaluate how effective they will be in the world championships.
Which are the Australia's goals to the World Championships?
To play every game on it's merit. We believe we are capable of beating anyone. We will set our goals for each game depending on the opposition.
Australia is with Serbia, China and Romania to the same group (B' Group). Is there any opponent that you are afraid of more? Which game will be the key for the qualification to the next round?
As above. The 1st game is Rom. We must perform well for both our confidence and to ensure we progress to the next round. China will be difficult opponents in front of a home crowd and SRB are current world champions. All are very important games for us.
How many possibilities are there Australia to win a medal to the World Championships?
If we can finish on or near top of our group we are confident we can play well in the finals to progress to the medal rounds.
Would you like to tell us something about our National team of men and the new effort that it makes with Dragan Adric?
A very good result in the Vodafone Cup for Greece. The defeat over GER was very strong and it shows that even though Gre are not at the world champs they will be a team in contention for London 2012. Adric was known as a tough disciplined player and I think these characteristics will form the attitude of the Gre team for the future.
The last question is, which is the last thing that you will say to your players before the battles of World Championships?
Be proud of who you represent! Respect your opposition but never fear them or doubt your capabilities. If you play your role for the team then the result will take care of itself.
